When parties are involved in an oil and gas dispute, mediation can be a useful process for both landowners and energy development companies. Mediation provides an opportunity for both sides to discuss the situation with the help of an experienced neutral and brainstorm creative solutions to meet the concerns of the landowner while also letting the energy company move forward with development. The Wyoming Agriculture & Natural Resources Mediation Program is available to assist Wyoming landowners and industry companies with mediation and facilitation services. Certified Mediators
Mediation
There are over 50 individuals in Wyoming who have been certified through the Wyoming Agriculture and Natural Resource Mediation Program as mediators. They are located state-wide and they represent a variety of backgrounds. Most of the mediators have experience in agriculture but some are full-time mediation professionals, government administrators, human resource specialists and educators.
To become a certified mediator, participants attend a 30-hour initial training and have to complete 8 hours of recertification every two years.

Mission Statement:
The Wyoming Agriculture and Natural Resource Mediation Program sees to encourage the use of mediation, technical review teams and other community/shared decision making processes to help people impacted by agricultural, natural resource and related conflicts to find mutually agreeable solutions.
Goals:
- The operation of a USDA certified mediation program.
- The training, continuing education and certification of mediators.
- The development of lists and the provision of names of qualified mediators to persons interested interested in utilizing mediation to resolve their disputes.
- The development of lists and recommendation of technical review teams TRT to persons seeking assistance in addressing natural resource issues.
- Partnering with other interested parties in the promotion of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and collaborative decision making in a variety of settings within the State.
- Continued interaction with other states' mediation programs and national organizations.

This guide is intended to be a quick resource for mediators who find themselves dealing with a behavioral health issue during a mediation session. The guide includes contact information for local police and sheriff offices in each community along with information on behavioral health resources in each county. The ACR Taskforce on Safety in ADR Recommended Guidance is also printed in the guide to help mediators develop safety strategies as they approach a session.
